Yes, I’m a huge fan of Manny and duh, it’s because I’m Filipino and I am truly proud that we have a fighter who just happens to be THE #1 P4P boxer in the world. I am merely trying to keep my predictions unbiased and completely objective.
So at first, I gave it slighty to Cotto, simply because he’s a welterweight, still in his prime, with tremendous power and skill—arguably the best welterweight out there right now.
However, after going back and watching several fights of both Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto, I have decided to toss it up this time around.
Pacquiao’s quick, he’s got a ton of stamina, he’s very intelligent, he packs a ton of power in his punches, he’s got amazing evasive skills, he’s the epitome of the perfect fighter and he’s the #1 P4P fighter in the sport of boxing today.
On the other hand, Cotto is also a smart fighter. He’s got very powerful, vicious punches, his left hook can be devastating, he likes to beat down the body, he knows how to nullify speed, considering he won fights against Shane Mosley and Zab Judah, he has the spirit of a true warrior, and he’s essentially an undefeated fighter, not counting that cheated loss against Antonio Margarito.
Pacquiao may be fast and powerful, but can he handle the punches of a true welterweight in his prime?
Cotto may be a strong, devastating puncher, but will he be able to counter or evade the lighting fast and deadly combinations of Pacquiao?
Guy’s we’ll just have to see.
