My Opinion on MMA
| Random guy on Pacland forum: | People that don't like MMA don't like it because they are not a true Fight Fans but just boxing fans. Lots of people don't like "two guys hugging on the ground" because most don't know anything about the ground game. The ground game is some technical *** ****, and is very very methodical. Anyways to answer the question, MMA is harder in terms of the variability and the many disciplines that you have to be well rounded at as opposed to boxing which is just one discipline only. What makes boxing tougher is probably mostly just the fact that they have to train to fight for 12 rounds, which is a lot more than in MMA. Hope that answers your question. |
| Me: | The thing about that is that it's so hard to see those technical methods of the ground game. You'd have to be watching MMA for a long time to be able to spot those kinds of things. That's why a lot of people do see it as "two guys hugging on the ground." You can't really blame them for making that generalization. Whereas in boxing, anybody—regardless of how much they've been watching boxing, can easily see the artistry and technicality of a fight. It's more difficult to see and identify those avenues in MMA. |
