I hate this phrase.

“Some people are born with it.” I hate when people use that phrase to put others down. I’m a pianist of 12 years now and it pisses me off how someone has to tell me that I can’t learn Jazz improv on my own. Of course I’m WAYYY better off with a teacher, but I don’t have time. I’ve been playing way long enough, not to mention with a teacher, to be able to teach myself. I’d rather go at my own pace because I’m studying to become a Nurse at the moment. So basically, I went over to Sam Ash to pick up “The Real Easy Book.” I ask this guy if they have it and he’s like sure! He starts questioning me and what not and he goes into this BIG fucking lecture on how it’s gonna be really hard on my own to play improv Jazz. Well, fuck you, Sir, for pointing that out for be because it’s pretty fucking obvious. Oh and of course, he even pulled out the “Oh, look at me I’m fucking experienced I’ve been doing this forever!” card on me. I don’t care dude, I fucking know how good you are. I UNDERSTAND. Just the way he was lecturing me was as if he was telling me I couldn’t do it on my own rather than the fact it would be hard on my own. For all I know, it’ll probably be easier for me. The guy didn’t even give me a chance to jam out on the keyboard. Nigga doesn’t know me.
