So last night I was thinking about the whole economic crisis this country is facing and how a lot of people, including me, feel like there’s no hope for tomorrow. Also, mind me, this was like almost 2 in the morning. I don’t know how I remembered this quote, but it really makes soo much sense now when you apply it to all of our problems in everyday life. Frederick Douglas, the famous slave abolitonist, women’s suffragist, writer, etc. once said, “Without struggle, there is no progress.” (Yes, I totally remember my history lectures from high school.) Moreover, you can totally look at America’s past. Whether it came to civil rights, the rough economic depression of the 1920’s, or all the different wars, the country got into better shape as a result from those different eras of struggle. It’s kinda like working out. A good way to put it is that America’s just having a “work out” sesh over at Bally’s Total Fitness and building some muscle, so later on we’ll have another Golden age of some sort. I don’t know. LOL but on a serious note, who knows? Perhaps we’re headed toward a Golden age or something.
